June 6, 2019 @ 8:00 am - 5:00 pm

The Ojai Valley Museum celebrates the Ojai Valley’s founding families. Tico, Lopez, Ayala, Vanegas, Arnaz, Ortega, Reyes, these are the families who settled the valley. Their stories have been too often overlooked. The newest exhibition by the Ojai Valley Museum shines the light on these families and their descendants still living in the valley.

When California was part of Mexico, there were two ranchos in the Ojai Valley: Rancho Ojai and Rancho Santa Ana. Learn more about the families who owned the ranchos and controlled the valley.

Vaqueros took care of the cattle on ranchos. Local resident Dan Lopez is a modern day vaquero. The national and world champion is also highlighted in the exhibition, linking the vaqueros of the rancho era to life today in the valley.

The Ojai Valley Museum is located at 130 W. Ojai Avenue in Ojai. Free parking is available behind the museum, off Blanche Street. The Museum is open Tuesday through Saturday 10 am to 4 pm and Sunday noon to 4 pm. Group or school tours available by appointment.

For more information, call the museum at (805) 640-1390, ext. 201, email info@OjaiValleyMuseum.org , or visit the museum website at OjaiValleyMuseum.org.
