Returning to the Ojai Art Center Music Branch concert series on Sunday, March 31, at 2 p.m., are popular international duo- violinist Chavdar Parashkevov and pianist Natasha Kislenko. Combining their success and talents in 2009 they have toured extensively with concerts in Germany, Russia, Bulgaria, Turkey and the US. Parashkevov-Kislenko have performed live on radio and television in the US and Europe. In 2011 they released their debut CD Russian Sonatas to rave reviews. Last year Gramaphone praised them for their new CD Beethoven, Brahms, Mahler saying they were “bold champions of all of the disc’s fare” and that “their conversations are balanced, intense and seamless”. Chamber music at the Ojai Art Center in our intimate gallery setting. This month we feature Karenza Peacock, internationally renowned violin soloist and recording artist, who will perform selected masterpieces of classical repertoire.
Kerenza’s album as soloist with the London Symphony Orchestra reached the top of the UK Classical Charts. Her recording of Vivaldi’s Four Seasons was picked as Album of the Week on Classic FM. She has just recorded a disc of concertos with one written especially for her by Oliver Davis, with the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra. Kerenza led the Pavao String Quartet on five albums and 15 years of tours throughout the world. She is a regular concerto soloist with London’s St. Martin in the Fields.
Kerenza studied violin at the Royal Academy of Music, graduating with First Class Honors and was awarded a Leverhulme Fellowship for two years. Her solo and chamber discs have all received 5-star reviews.
Kerenza also enjoys playing fiddle and singing in her bluegrass band, the Coal Porters. She wrote two songs on their latest album. Kerenza has played on many television and film soundtracks, including Downton Abbey and has performed with many artists including Paul McCartney and Kan Ye West. At one point she was playing on all top three albums in the Pop Charts, as well as number one on the Classical Charts. In 2016, as concertmaster, she completed a year long global tour with Adele.
Kerenza was recently appointed as an Associate of the Royal Academy of Music for making a “significant contribution to the music industry”. Kerenza will be accompanied by talented pianist Izumi Kashiwagi. The Ojai Art Center is located at 113 S. Montgomery St. in Ojai.
